Ground
D-AIM ground based services make use of open standards to provide and access information. By using open standards interoperability can be achieved, competition between suppliers is encouraged and thus costs for the user can be minimized.
In a future perspective there's really no end to what kind of ground services that could be part of the D-AIM concept. Initially, within the D-AIM project trials, a limited number of aeronautical and meteorolgical information services will be offered, all of them made available through Web Feature Service (WFS) as defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). The initial services are:

  • WFS access to digital static aeronautical information (AIP-like information, NAV data, etc) for graphical display and integration in end user system.
  • WFS access to Aerodrome Mapping Databases (AMDB) for graphical display and integration in end user system.
  • WFS access to digital dynamic aeronautical information (NOTAM-like info) for graphical display and integration in end user system.
  • WFS access to digital meteorological information for graphical display and integration in end user system.

All of the services above have the possibility for the user to choose for which geographical area and time-frame the information shall be valid.
