Aviation depends on timely, quality digital aeronautical information. The AIM Concept envisages seamless data exchange within a network centric environment. New means to exchange aeronautical information in a seamless manner are therefore required.
|
The D-AIM project is a proof-of-concept for Aeronautical Information Management (AIM). The focus is on interoperable information exchange between a variety of users and user systems. Some keywords are: Temporal - Rich temporality to support timely information filtering and decision making Open - Based on documented standards to facilitate community adoption Geospatial - Rich geo-referencing to support location based and decision making Global - Worldwide participation and applicability Standards - Based on leveraged standards to reduce costs
Taking advantage of the factors above the idea is to provide services for aeronautical information, connecting a variety of information sources and making the information available to all user categories, ground based as well as airborne.
In the different sections and sub-sections in the left hand menu you find more information. The link below to a seven-minute video clip also gives a good idea of what the D-AIM project is all about.
